Denmark's Paper-Based Maternity Record Goes Digital

After nearly 50 years, Denmark’s paper-based maternity record has been replaced by a digital solution. With the launch of the My Pregnancy app (Min Graviditet), expectant parents can now access key pregnancy information directly from their smartphone, while healthcare professionals benefit from improved information sharing across the healthcare system.

Creating a More Connected Pregnancy Journey 

The new solution brings together information from GP visits, midwife consultations, scans, and other appointments.

For example, midwives have had to document information both in the physical maternity record (the yellow envelope) and in their own electronic systems. This kind of double registration increases the risk of errors and takes time away from the interaction with the pregnant woman, so this is an important benefit of the new solution

A Collaborative Effort 

Trifork Digital Health has contributed to the continued development of the solution in collaboration with the Danish Health Data Authority and other key stakeholders across the Danish healthcare sector. 

For software developer Line, who worked on the project while pregnant herself, the launch has a special significance. 

It’s rewarding to have helped build something that I personally would have appreciated having access to during my own pregnancy.

The My Pregnancy app became available on 2 June 2026 and marks an important step in the ongoing digitalisation of healthcare services in Denmark.
