AI partnership aims to help Danish regions unlock capacity and create more time for patient care

Trifork Digital Health and Qampo enter into partnership on planning and coordination in healthcare

Aarhus, 3 August 2026 – Trifork Digital Health and Qampo have entered into a partnership to develop AI-supported solutions for healthcare planning. The ambition is to support more coordinated patient pathways and improve coordination across clinical areas, organisational boundaries and healthcare sectors. At the same time, the solutions are intended to help Danish regions free up more time for core tasks and make better use of existing capacity in a healthcare system under increasing pressure.

The partnership combines Qampo’s experience with AI-based planning models from complex operational environments with Trifork Digital Health’s experience in healthcare IT, integrations and clinical workflows.

As the healthcare reform increases the focus on coordinated patient pathways across sectors, planning and coordination are becoming increasingly important. Many planning processes are still carried out manually or with limited system support. At the same time, even minor changes to a single patient pathway can affect waiting times, staffing and capacity across several parts of an organisation.

According to the two companies, there is considerable potential in creating better alignment between patient appointments, healthcare professionals, facilities and time. Not necessarily by working more, but by improving visibility, reducing manual planning work and supporting smarter use of existing capacity.

The partnership builds in part on concrete experience from mental health and somatic care in the Central Denmark Region. At the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, an assessment pathway may require coordination between clinicians, rooms and several consultations over a short period. At Horsens Regional Hospital, complex planning is also required to align patient appointments, facilities and staff competencies.

Many planning processes also take place under constant pressure from changes, waiting lists and limited resources, which can make it difficult to use existing capacity effectively. In practice, this may mean that some employees work overtime while available capacity elsewhere is not fully used.

Solving complex planning challenges in healthcare requires both advanced AI-based planning capabilities and a deep understanding of clinical workflows, integrations and healthcare IT. Qampo contributes experience from areas including elderly care, transport and logistics, where better planning has produced tangible results in complex operational environments. Trifork Digital Health contributes extensive experience in healthcare IT, integrations, secure software development and workflows in the Danish healthcare system.

The two companies are already working on analyses and discussions related to planning and capacity challenges in both mental health and somatic care. They are also in dialogue with several Danish regions and other healthcare stakeholders about concrete collaborations and pilot projects.
