From Paper to Digital: New Solution Improves Pregnancy Pathways

Digital Health, May 1, 2025

Have you been pregnant and had to remember to bring your paper journal to every appointment? And maybe forgotten it in the middle of morning sickness or a busy schedule? Then you know how inconvenient and fragile that system can be.

We’re now developing the citizen-facing part of a digital solution for pregnancy care, in collaboration with the Danish Health Data Authority (Sundhedsdatastyrelsen). This means that Trifork is responsible for further developing the Min Graviditet (My Pregnancy) app and the digital Pregnancy Folder, while the clinical interface is being developed by sundhed.dk and the National Health Record (Sundhedsjournalen).

The solution will replace the current paper-based maternity and pregnancy records, making it easier to share data between general practitioners, maternity wards, and municipal health services. The pregnant individual will also have digital access to their information, while healthcare professionals across sectors will gain a more complete and up-to-date picture of the pregnancy.

Previously, pregnant individuals had to bring their paper journal to every appointment, increasing the risk of outdated or missing information. With the new digital solution, all data is gathered in one place and updated in real time.

This solution ensures:

  • Easy and secure access to pregnancy data for both patients and healthcare professionals
  • A more cohesive experience across the healthcare sector
  • A digital overview through the Min Graviditet app, offering checklists, information, and updates throughout the journey

This is an area where improvements have been requested for a long time. Now, with clinical input, technical expertise, and user understanding brought together in one team, we’re well on our way to making it happen.

Development is already underway, and it’s a task we approach with both responsibility and experience. We were previously involved in developing the Min Graviditet app, and we’re pleased to once again be chosen to further develop both the app and the Pregnancy Folder

Anders Bay-Smidt, Co-Business Unit Lead at Trifork Digital Health

We look forward to continuing the collaboration and delivering a solution that makes a tangible difference for pregnant individuals in Denmark.
