Arbejdernes Landsbank, one of Denmark’s leading financial institutions, is dedicated to delivering high-quality services while ensuring operational excellence. With over 1,100 employees, Arbejdernes Landsbank continuously seeks innovative ways to optimize workflows and enhance employee support.

In 2024, the bank embarked on a mission to explore GenAI’s potential to streamline internal operations. To achieve this, Arbejdernes Landsbank partnered with Trifork, leveraging their deep expertise in AI and digital transformation. Together, they aimed to develop a secure, tailored solution that could deliver immediate value while safeguarding sensitive data – and then the chatbot “ALai” was born.

 

Faster answers, smarter workflows

Arbejdernes Landsbank aimed to enhance internal efficiency and streamline workflows to support their teams in delivering even greater value. Like many organizations, employees occasionally faced challenges in quickly accessing routine information, such as HR policies or operational guidelines, which could take time to resolve.

To address this, the bank envisioned a secure, AI-powered chatbot designed to provide accurate and fast responses to employee queries. Starting with HR-related questions, the goal was to create a foundation for a scalable solution that could ultimately encompass a broader range of organizational knowledge.

An agile journey to a secure AI chatbot

In close collaboration, a small team of 2–3 people from Trifork and Arbejdernes Landsbank designed and implemented the chatbot using an agile approach. The development process was organized into sprints, ensuring continuous feedback and iterative improvements.

Key technical components included:

  • Frontend and backend integration: A React-based frontend paired with a .NET backend, ensuring alignment with Arbejdernes Landsbank’s existing infrastructure.
  • Advanced retrieval methods: The chatbot employs advanced techniques to retrieve and present the most relevant information from its growing knowledge bases, including HR policies and general organizational content.
  • Scalable architecture: Its modular design supports future expansions, such as adding new knowledge areas beyond HR.

Empowering 15% of the workforce with daily support

The first version of the chatbot was launched within just two days, leveraging Trifork’s Corax AI Enablement platform for rapid deployment. Designed to deliver accurate and reliable responses, the solution quickly became an essential tool for employees, driving adoption and enhancing productivity across the organization. With its scalable design, the chatbot is well-positioned to support future expansions and address evolving needs.

  • Increased usage: With 15% of the workforce—approximately 170 employees—using the chatbot daily, the solution demonstrated significant adoption.
  • Enhanced productivity: Employees saved time on routine queries, enabling them to focus on more complex, value-adding tasks.
  • Scalability: The platform’s modular design allows for future expansions, such as personalized AI assistants for different departments.

This collaboration underscores Trifork’s role as a strategic partner in leveraging AI to drive efficiency and innovation. By delivering a secure, user-focused solution, Trifork has laid the groundwork for Arbejdernes Landsbank to continue exploring AI’s potential, enhancing their operations and reinforcing their position as a forward-thinking financial institution.

The Corax AI roadmap includes plans for integrating personalized chatbots into the platform. This initiative will enable Arbejdernes Landsbank to create tailored chatbots that address specific needs across the organization, further enhancing the solution’s flexibility and impact.
