Challenge

With 10.000 Vestas field service technicians servicing more than 80.000 wind turbines globally, most technicians are working on multiple projects on a daily basis. By the end of a workday, the hours spent on different work orders can be slightly difficult to remember. Vestas wanted to create a platform for time registration that encourages data entries throughout the day to optimize the process and quality of the time registered.

 

Solution

With My Time, time registration can be done directly from the heart of the wind turbine, as the field service technicians are able to input all data on the mobile devices through a user-friendly iOS app.

My Time is fully integrated with another central iOS app from the Vestas ONE FieldService app suite, My Tasks. As field service technicians execute work orders in the My Tasks app, they are offered a simple and easy way of inputting time registrations while updating the status of their work orders: Time spent, transportation, etc.

Furthermore, field service technicians are able to input information on sick days, vacation time, etc. directly from the My Time app on their mobile device without have to log in to SAP from a computer.

My Time is best practice native mobile development, and it is part of ONE FieldService, a suite of task-at-hand oriented apps that empower Vestas’ employees to swiftly and efficiently execute tasks while providing relevant information in its appropriate context. It is a tailored solution optimized for better performance and user experience on the iOS platform, mixing the SAP Fiori/Apple Human Interface Guidelines for the optimal user interface design.

Result

Time registrations no longer require logging into SAP from a computer – it is an easy and fast maneuver completed while on the move. The result in terms of hours saved are impressive.
